Jar, I remember the case, I remember Lucas confessing, recanting, I know its been a long time ago, but I also was sure the wife finally received his ins, and Clemmie Curtis was finally treated as a fallen officer and was commemorated. I can't say I know any more than that maybe someone else can help us out??

On another note, which did not make my day, but it does relate to murders v slaps on the wrists. I saw in the H/D Chris Chiles is unopposed, so I guess that means we will be stuck with him once again as P.A.

Mark, after further research in the football program I have a question for you. Are you one of the parents that was in a cussing match in front of the C-team players, parents, and the Vice President of MYSA (and still the V.P.) last year? If so, how can the board put you in charge of football when you could not control yourself as a spectator? I know you can't answer for the board so let me refrase that last question. Why would you ask to be in charge of football when you can't control yourself as a spectator? I'm not trying to stir the pot with the sewermans problems with you, but as a Miltonian I would like and I'm sure everyone else would like the answers to these questions. The Source-r-us P.S. What were the coaches doing during this time?

Jake has read the terms of service and agreed to abide by those terms. I am reversing my previous decision. I am hoping this will create harmony in the youth sports group and minimize drama. Jake has been readmitted to the forum. The travel team is being given its own board.

Bienvenido a casa, mi amigo! This reminds me of a lecture Pierre Salinger gave in Charleston. He said Pres. Kennedy was given several boxes of fine Cuban Cohiba Cigars following the embargo. He loved cigars, but he knew what would have to be done. JFK sorrowfully asked Salinger, “They’ll have to be destroyed, won’t they?” And Salinger replied, “Yes, one by one.”

I am glad I played sandlot ball. If my mother forced me to play LL, I would have been the humiliation of my team. I could never have made B Team or A Team or All Stars. My pitching style would best be described as spaghetti arm.

What is the fuss over the ages of team members? A couple of years ago I remember a team in the national LL tournament where there was a question over the age of one of the players, who showed skills rivaling players in the minor league. Following the game, he went into the stands and kissed a woman, which the media presumed was his mother. It turns out, it was his wife!

I agree Pnk, doubt if she will last long, if she is getting on Boyd!!! Is Klinger really getting this job? or just filling in? They are complaining over $500? How much has the Mayor cost this city? Then we've got the sewermans salary!! I don't think I missed it in the posting, but does anyone know why they are short on officers now? PPl really need to start thinking ahead, we have got to get someone that ppl will vote for to run for Mayor. We've got to get these ppl living within the City Limits, to wake up and realize they are making decisions for ppl who cannot vote because they are not in the City Limits. Those of us that do live within the limits cannot get any help, so can you even imagine how those outside the city limits are treated??? As for any grants..we all know that just about every grant that has been given to this town has went for new cruisers! Yes, Blenko does need fixing, and yes it would be a shame to lose it.

MiltonWV,

I apologize for the comment, and it was not directed toward the website. The comment stems from the drama and the chaos thus far in the LL season. The site and the info that is afforded is awesome. By saying stupid website I was refering to the posts that have been made, allegations, and HE/SHE said regarding the LL & TT. It's just getting old and no sign of resolution.

PnKnSd,

I can see how you can come to that conclusion by reading my previous post. Believe me there is much more, however I choose not to continue to use this site to voice my opnion, I would rather do it face to face. So to refer to your comment about how you can see that I can be one that bridges some of the problems. I am usually at the Ball Field MON-SAT, I would like to continue this conversation with you since you have obviously mis judged my character. I am not trying to be confertational and you have the right to your opinion. Also by doing this you would be able to voice some of your opinons without having to worry about your job or retaliation. Just a thought...

I think the website that Shauna is coming up with is a good idea..as long as it is the stats of the kids game and highlights and no ones personal opinion. I know that if a team was going to play and I had already left the field I would wonder who won the game, so this is gonna be helpful. I hope this turns out good for everyone!! Thanks again for the time and effort.

Hello everyone. I have given my personal e mail and cell phone number to several coaches. I asked that they call or email me to report scores for their games. I will not be mentioning the kids names yet because legally we do not have consent from their parents. However, when they sign up for football, Mark and I intend to have a consent form so that we can mention ALL of the kid's names for their part in the games, even if they do not win. This is meant to be positive an encouraging to promote the LL.

There will NOT be anything negative said or implied about the opposing team, umpires/officials, coaches or parents! If you have suggestions as to how I can quickly and efficiently get this information please let me know. I can be contacted at sdslp@msn.com or 638-5018. I intend to include the

traveling team in this as well if the coaches would like to participate. I believe if the community has more information, perhaps, it will lessen tensions and tempers. Here is an example: "Congratulations goes out to the A-Z variety softball team for a 6-0 winning streak. Keep up the great girls!" Thanks.

Breath…There is an article in the paper today that may explain what is going on with the Public Service Commission. They are experiencing employee shortages. According to the article, utilities still employ expert witnesses that are paid as much for one case as a PSC staffer would make in 6 mo. to a yr. In many cases, the staff is over-matched in experience and resources. Violins, please!

The PSC has a 13% vacancy rate with 43.5 vacant full-time positions. I don’t think the PSC has adapted to a lower staff. Those remaining certainly haven’t gained efficiencies to make up for it. We’ve witnessed that first hand. All this has done is give the PSC a convenient excuse as to why things go uninspected and citizens aren’t receiving assistance in a timely manner.

RE: BASEBALL

I do not want to take away from NO1's posting, so feel free to answer his posting after mine.

I agree with miltonwv that new posters will eventually integrate themselves into other topics on this website. We welcome you, and we realize that what is happening in your lives is every bit as important to you as our concerns have been to us. The thing you have going in your favor is that you have people on both sides of the issues posting. We, on the other hand, have never been able to engage the city in dialogue, either by telephone, attending council and utilities meetings, contacting newspapers, or posting on this website.

What I want to say is that this board is a result of miltonwv seeing our plight on another message board. At the time, three city employees had been “fired”, sewer gas and sewage from the new sewer system was making people sick and damaging property, and then a gay man was beaten and left to die. We were treated like worthless peons, were the brunt of jokes, and our postings would be manually erased time and again. miltonwv believed us and believed in us and graciously set up this message board, realizing it had the potential to become something great for our community. She has donated her technical skills, time and her own money to make this available to us. It is modeled after another: http://www.goamherst.com/amherstforums/index.php

If you have an opportunity take a look at it to see what our message board can become. To have someone like miltonwv give us such a gift is extraordinarily generous. She’s worked hard to format this to please the regulars and the newbie sports posters. For CCaudill to say this is a “stupid site” is very insulting to miltonwv and those who have tried to build this into a community forum.

I hope you will see that it is a privilege to have a message board of this quality for our little town. (Even prominent Huntingtonians have offered praise for the technical and management aspects of our board.) I hope through dialogue, you will be able to come to some resolutions with your sports issues, and this little board will be a vehicle not only to voice opinions, but also to glean information.

I noticed that the TT pracitice on Wednesday, and beleive me I have no problem with the TT team. I just thought it was for fall ball? They play on a bigger field then LL is that right? I noticed yeasterday at the games at Hite Saunders. That two different boys, on two differnt teams, arms were hurting, they play on the TT team. I watched both games, do you think this hurts the teams they are playing on now? Does this TT team have to practice during regular season? I want them to have the TT team, just don't want it to hurt the other kids that is not on it, or the other teams. Does the ASA girls play on the same size field as LL girls? just wanted to know

RE: BASEBALL

Thanks, milt. CCaudill says she is new to the area. Obviously she hasn't lived here long enough to know that for some ppl it is best to hide behind a screen name, because of the way ppl tend to retaliate around here. If anybody from the city wants to post something (which they were told they weren't to do), they haveto do it behind a screen name or they would be out a job. There are other reasons not to post under a real name, too. It would be ideal to post under your real name, but I understand why some ppl won't.

CCaudill says this site is stupid, but I can see where she would be the person who could bridge some of the problems that have come up. She likes Coach Jake, so she doesn't see him as creating problems. Her kid is on a tt, so she is going to defend that, too, when other ppl are saying stuff about the board, practice field, etc.

I don't buy the notion, if you don't have something good to say, don't say it at all. That's sort of a fatalistic attitude and how we get into messes around here, because ppl won't voice their disatisfaction.

I think this site has already done some good. My friends with sewer problems can post, and the problem gets fixed faster than if they'd call city hall, because the city reads this, even though they won't admit it. Nobody would have known about the six lawsuits against the town, especially the one by Rex Donahue, if it wasn't for this site. Nobody would have known about the terrorist water scare. All the things you mentioned, milt, will make this site our local digital newspaper, which is good. All newspapers have a sports section, too.

Like you said, things will settle down in awhile. Actually, you can blame a lot of this on me. I was the one who asked what was going on at the LL, because I was with some friends and learned that some of the parents were unhappy and somebody started the tt.

So...go play ball! And if you really are frustrated, there is a new section in the spoofs called Field of Dreams.I even posted a LL joke last night. Go there and let loose. Almost anything goes. It helped a lot of us and it saved us from getting kicked off the board, too.

Source, you probably should have posted under the spoof section. I read some of your other posts and I take it you hang out at the Am. Legion. I heard there is a person who either works or hangs out there who had a water and sewer bill that was a couple hundred dollars for one month and there wasn't a break in their line or anything. This person had a little run-in with Sewerman. Do you know this person? If so, can you get them to register and post about what happened? That is the kind of information ppl in this town need to know.

Welcome back, Sewerman…Speaking of Bill Clinton, I hope you brought back some Cuban cigars for all of us!

One of the workers at Blenko told me the scene with Bill was a circus. Boss showed up and was gushing all over him…”I’m the FIRST female ever elected mayor of Milton, yada, yada” until Bill politely asked her what she did to win the election, because it might help Hillary.

Boss goes, “My philosophy has always been, giggle, hee, hee, if at first you don’t suckseed, try try again.”

Reducing Drama in youth sports section.

I have taken steps to reduce the drama in the youth sports section. Moderators have been appointed for the youth sports section. One individual has been removed for inflammatory conduct under TOS.

I want those people to understand that there are 150 topics and numerous sections outside of the youth sports section. Encourage them to look at the whole site. I don't care if they fight and fuss on the political topics as I encourage robust free speech on politics. I seem to be having a difficult time communicating the fact that when it comes to youth sports, the focus should be on what is in the best interest of the kids. Not on petty beefs, personal agendas, and drama.... but the kids.

Some of you have express that the focus on youth sports is hurting traffic on the other topics. That is only temporary in my opinion, The youth sports section is going through its wild west phase, and given some time they will mature in their level of interaction and laugh at the drama in the past.

When this board was first started, we went through a wild west phase as well. Then we became friends and became a little more tolerant of each other. Some of the youth sports people will eventually integrate into the rest of the board community.

This "stupid website" existed and people were talking about it long before the sports topic was created.

Outside of the sports topic there are more than 150 discussions about topics relevant to Milton and the surrounding area. We have about 2000 postings total in the database. The sewer problem, politics, crime, and the unsolved killing of Ricky Williams. The merits and demerits of city council and Mayor Sargent. We even have one section dedicated to spoofs and the comedic take on small town life in addition to our opinion section.

Shortly we will be opening a classified section for people to post help wanted ads so that Milton job seekers can find employment and possibly post notices about yard sales. We have a section for public events as well so that notices of events at the American Legion or the local churches can be publicized.

Outside of the drama in the sports section there is a lot going on on this "stupid website". Hang around and participate. If you don't like the content of the sports section find something that you do like and go for it.

Within the scope of the terms of service that generically governs user conduct, this forum exists for the purposes of promoting free speech in a civilized context. In short the rules are intended to discourage personal attacks and uncivilized behavior.

What is so stupid about that? About 15 percent of the computer literate adults in Milton are signed up on this "stupid website", because the appreciate the fact that this website allows them to speak their mind without fear of retaliation. Free speech and free expression is anything but stupid.

In light of the fact that this website gets more traffic in one way than the Milton City Website gets all year. I would say that the potential for good is far greater than the potential for bad. 3-6000 pages viewed daily.

Once the current drama gets turned around in a positive direction, this "stupid website" has the potential to be a great asset to Milton.

I am not out to lecture you but rather to make you aware of potential that you might not be aware of. With the kind of traffic that we have...don't you think it might be a good idea to set up a section for Milton business owners to promote their goods and services here to facilitate a little bit of economic prosperity? Now that Internet commerce is a trillion dollar a year industry.......It might be entirely possible that this stupid website could be an economic asset to Milton, being as Milton needs all of the prosperity that it can get.

Maybe the computer programmer running this "stupid website" is not the dumb Blondie that people think she is, in that the World Wide Web has changed the world.

Think about it and then go to the front page of this site and look at all the different topics. http://www.miltonwv.org

It has turned into a quorum (quarreling forum). I just wanted to share my point of view for what it is worth. Our children can access this website. I think it is irresponsible to say that one child is not "good enough" as Source put it. I am not trying to pick an arguement or side. I think if we ALL step back for a minute and think about the kids (especially those who may log onto this forum and read something about a friend, a coach, a parent) we may re-think what we write. Obviously there is much tension between the parents which is not going to end if the finger pointing continues. This doesn't reflect very well on Milton Little League Sports or the Communiity. I just think we should agree to disagree. From what I see, both sides have made mistakes. I am not suggesting that if you have issues (and believe me there are issues) that you should just let it go but isn't there a more mature manner we (milton parents) can address them. Just a thought.

The website administration is addressing ways to reduce the drama. Hang on folks solutions are forthcoming and moderators are being appointed. Bear with me folks.

hey this is christie caudill, my sons rian and jakob and faith all play in this league, i also coach minor girls softball and my son rian also plays with the travel team. just in case u didnt know who i am. this is the first time i have been on this website believe it or not (some of ya). im not a computer person but i cant stand back anymore, especially when i am at my sons bball game and people in the stands are talkinig about this stupid website. i think if you go to a game, then watch the game, cheer the kids on and not sit around and talk bull the whole time. i also think that it is funny that people can post their opinion about everything but forget to post their NAME. seems a little SHADY to me. i think that if you have an opinion about something and you believe in it then there is no reason to hide. Just like that good ole movie, "if you aint got nothin nice to say, then DONT SAY NOTHIN AT ALL"....As for the the TT i think it is a great idea. no one ever says anything about those girls playing ASA and little league. They do both and no one complains, which they shouldnt. (my daughter does both also) Wouldnt ya think that the parents of the TT dont know whats best for their kids???? just a thought. and why are you so worried about everyone elses kid? as long as yours is healthy then why waste so much time and energy complaining on this thing? we have enough problems at the LL, do you think all this fingerpointing and BACKSTABBING is helping anything? I didnt want to get involved in this nonsense but when people talk bad about my firends Jake and Susie and I cant sit back anymore. I also think that you #1 baseball fan can give all these "OPINIONS" but forget to give your name. I think that if you truly believe in something you should confront the people (and lord knows u can find us) at the LL ball field. And one more thing, just to let ya know about the TT practices let me fill you in on something...my son plays for todd bryan who is awesome, supports our decision about the TT and we have an open relationship about BOTH teams so he is getting coached by several different coaches and is doing awesome. the day after the TT practice and jake helped rian with batting he hit: in park homer, triple, single, walk, next game: walk, GRAND SLAM, double...WOW, those batting practices at the cages really hurt him, huh? Jake is the type of person that has all BEST interest in the kids and could care less about all the parent crap. And I am the same way. if anyone knows me they would know that. I moved here almost 3yrs ago and i have learned alot. i usually give everyone the benefit of the doubt even if my friend doensnt like them. my thing is if you havent done anything to me then i like you. shouldnt it be that way???? thats just me. well i think i am done, or maybe i have just started. im sure someone will have an opinion but the way that i see it, dont say anything behind a screen if you cant say it to my face, or anyone elses. Well wait not done yet, as for Susie...shes one of my best friends and alot u might have different opinion about her. (probably b/c she speaks her mind) which its not a bad thing but it has come back to get her. she coaches those girls w/out a kid on the team plus 2 others on 2 different teams. she goes above and beyond for those girls. we are a good team, we work well together and we are still undefeated. those girls have come out of their shell (so their parents say) and are having a great time. I think our parents are very happy and so are the girls. alot of people think she is one on here talking crap but shes not and i know that for a fact..just think, if she usually has something to say she usually lets ya know!!!!! ok im done (for know im sure) but like i said, dont trash people/my friends behind a screen, if you really are concerned about the TT kids then let us know who you are and we can fix this problem and quit BLOGGING about this nonsense, really!!!!

Looks like I got back just in time, I hear you can set your watch by a pumping station, sewer smell hits about 10:30 pm. I strongly advise you to remember that the children as well as the adults can read this forum. On the political topics on this website, rowdy debate is permissible out of respect for free speech, however rowdy commentary should be limited by self constraint on a youth sports topic that might be of interest to children online.

The youth sports section does not exist for this guy to meter the quality of another adults personage but rather to mentor children in standards of good conduct and fair play.

Please get a clue what you are defending and whom before you make the statements, then when you do please feel free to come out from the screen name you are hiding behind.

The Youth sports section of this board does not exist for Jake to use it as a soapbox and or question the education or allege ignorance against the parents of the children that he coaches. A humble man would be grateful to the parents for allowing him to teach the kids about sports.

COACH JAKE wrote:

Admin, everything I write you send me a message but these people can sit and talk and sqy whatever and you never say anything,BE FAIR!

I am a dumb computer programmer who umpires websites. In no way am I am a baseball official. The website terms of service are the same for everyone so it is not a question of my fairness. Bottom line is that you were removed as a coach by league officials and your use of this forum as your personal soapbox to stir up dissent against league official with inflammatory commentary is disruptive and a waste of digital resources. The managers of this website offered a free forum for the youth sports people to get information to the public. That donation of digital resources was not intended to enable a digital insurgency. The children deserve better.

Now if league officials desire to distribute information to the public about youth sports. I intend to help them do so without being challenged by a renegade former coach who believes himself above the rules of this forum.

Calling another poster a blood sucking leech and a fool was reprehensible behavior in a forum that is accessible by children and quite unbecoming. I sincerely hope that you do not talk that way in the presence of children, but by posting it in a forum that is read by kids as well as adults that is exactly what you have done.

I made previous attemts to warn you that you were on the verge of being TOS'ed but you ignored me. The terms of service for this forum are most reasonable. You seem to have a long history of conflict with rules and applicable guidelines.

It deeply saddens me that I must terminate Coach Jake's account for flagrant violation of the terms of service by virtue of disruptive and inflammatory communication as defined by section G. of the terms of service. I cannot in good conscience allow this to continue in a forum that is dedicated to promoting sportsmanship and decorum in children.

I wish Coach Jake well in future endevors ..elsewhere.

Pnk, lol good point!!! But I think we are going to have to show her the way out when elections come about, and I think she will be kicking and screaming the whole way! The voters of Milton are going to have to show her, and the council, they aren't the only show in town!

Here is a LL joke I remember.

LL Parents

At one point during a game, the coach said to one of his young players, "Do you understand what cooperation is? What a team is?" The little boy nodded yes.

"Do you understand that what matters is that we play together as a team?"

The little boy nodded yes.

"So," the coach continued, "when a strike is called, or you're out at first, you don't argue or curse or attack the umpire. Do you understand all that?"

Again the little boy nodded.

"Good," said the coach. "Now go over there and explain it to your parents."

RE: Sewer Problems Continue

Jarfly, I would like to agree with you on one of your posts made earlier this week. A rugby team in Milton would be a good idea. I wasn't sure if this was the propper place to post this. But, I think it could go with this subject. There are a couple of teams that needs to join the league. Sewerman should have a team named the Floating Turds. He could fund his team by gathering all the turds floating in peoples basements and the turds shooting from the manholes, bag them up and sale them as fertilizer. Boss betty could have a team called Condo Betty's, She could fund her team by sceaming from the Sewermans funds. Just a thought, The Source-r-us

Dang…forget Bill Clinton coming to town. The next time Chip Carter and his wife come to visit friends on Dry Creek, I’ll ask if Jimmy will come, too, and try to negotiate a peace agreement with the people at the LL. What happened to the good ol’ days when the whole idea was for kids to have fun and not stike out when up to bat…to try not to trip over shoelaces when running to first base…to try to catch fly balls with gloves that would fit Leonid Stadnik and to drink gallons of Gatorade after being good losers and congratulating the winning team?

Maybe Yogi Berra had it right when he said, “Little League baseball is a good thing ‘cause it keeps the parents off the streets and it keeps the kids out of the house.”
